About Aceitunas Rumarín

Aceitunas Rumarín is a family business managed by two brothers who took over the company from their father.

The dedication of the Rubio Marín family dates back to before 1939, at Hacienda Los Graneros (Carmona). Isaías Marín, grandfather of the Rubio Marín brothers, had a small table olive factory there, an oil mill with a stone mill powered by animals, and a capacho press with a wooden beam.

In 1960, José Rubio Vélez, father of the Rubio Marín brothers, began his activity in table olives alongside the emblematic Castillo de Luna in Mairena del Alcor. Five years later, he acquired an orchard on the outskirts of the town where he continued his olive curing activity. It was in this same place that wooden barrels were also built where the product was fermented.

In 1975, Aceitunas Rumarín was created. During this new stage, the company performed manual filling and exported in wooden barrels and old packaging. It was during these years that their commercial relationships abroad began and their export to the United States.

Since 1993, along with the move to new facilities, the management and direction of this company has been taken over by its current owners, the founder’s grandchildren. Both brothers have continued investing, innovating, and adapting production processes to current regulations, aiming to maintain the traditional flavor of their products and the family character of the company. All this has allowed increasing production capacity, achieving an average annual production of 5,000 tons of olives. In this regard, 20% of the total olive production is their own (their main varieties are Manzanilla, Gordal, Verdiales, and Hojiblancas) as they own a farm of approximately 105 hectares.

Among the main varieties of olives, the dedication to Manzanilla, Gordal, Verdial, and Hojiblanca stands out—with pits, pitted, filled in continuous strip, and in fluid paste. Regarding the filling, you can find from the most common (pepper paste) to the most innovative (cheese, lemon, hot pepper, and jalapeño).

Olive oil production was resumed in 2008 with the creation of an oil mill, which is equipped with the most advanced technology and has a daily milling capacity of up to 400,000 kilos. From it, only virgin oils are obtained.

As a distinguishing feature, this company holds the Kosher Certificate to export products that the Jewish community can consume. Among its brands, both olives and oil, are Rumarín, Castillo de Luna, and Oleoalcores.

Future plans include strengthening foreign trade, although they already currently trade with the United States, France, Germany, and Canada.
